Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Challenge Winners!

I am so excited that my birdhouse was one of the five winners of Tim Holtz's Tattered Floral Challenge.  With 700 entries I was sooo honored to be picked.  Each one of the entries was a little piece of art and they were all so amazing!

I just could not wipe the smile off my face when I saw the winners.  I was so nervous reading Tim's blog when he announced the winners that I was scrolling one line at a time and when I seen the top of my birdhouse appear I just couldn't believe it.  Needless to say everyone in the house was awaken with my screams of joy.

The local store that I do most of my shopping and classes "My Heart's Fancy" even posted it on their Facebook page.  I so feel like a celebrity,.  LOL

As for the birdhouse's future?  It is going to go live with my Mom.  She feel in love with it while I was working on it.

Did I mention this is the first time one of my projects has every won!!!

Oh and the prize package is just icing on the cake!!!  I so love all of his products!!!

The encouragement I have received from friends and family gave me the courage to submit my project.  The response from them have been overwhelming as well as everyone who has left such kind messages on my blog have touched my heart and encouraged me to continue crafting.

Be sure and check out all the winners on Tim Holtz's Blog! My gratitude to Tim and Mario for sharing their great talent and the challenge!

What's next for me...Well, this win has gave me so much confidence that I am finally writing up the instructions to my clock tower and in the process building one with hopes of submitting to Somerset Studio "The Art of Paper and Mixed-Media" for the Haunted Challenge they have for their September/Oct Issue.  Fingers crossed!!!! Hoping lightening can strike twice.

Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Challenge

This is my entry into the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Challenge.  I tried to used the Tattered Floral die on just about everything I could think of on this piece.

The bird house and circle base was first painted with the Juniper Adirondack Paint.  I then covered the main part of the house with the Melange Tissue Wrap.  I distressed the edges with the Vintage Photo ink.  The opening is framed with a gear with was cut from the Gadget Gears die.  I had to cut out the middle of the gear for the opening.  The gear was painted with the Silver Adirondack Paint.  The ruler tape (which for the life of me I can't remember the brand) was used on the birdhouse base and well as the stand to tie the two together.

The roof was shingled using the Tattered Floral die also.  I used Grunge Board covered with Terminology Tissue Paper.  I colored each flower using the Vintage Photo ink.  I then cut each petal off the flower.  Before applying them I covered the edges with Peeled Paint.  After the shingles were on I used some of the Ripe Persimmon, Peacock Feathers and Squeezed lemonade to color them.  I was so happy with the outcome.  Think this came from my doll house building day.  LOL

The birdhouse is topped with a finial also made using the die.  I covered grunge paper with the Melange Tissue Paper colored with the Peacock Feathers and Ripe Persimmon.  It is top with a wooden finial colored with Ripe Persimmon and Squeezed Lemonade misted with Kraft Glimmer Mist.

The butterflies are also made from the petals of the flowers including the body. The body was misted with Pop Rocks Glimmer Mist and Stickles Diamond on the edges for some sparkle.  Some wire made the antennas and Glossy Accents on the body to give it some depth.

The flower are all cut from canvas.  I liked the texture that is added to the piece.  After cutting the flowers out, I sprayed with Ripe Persimmon and Squeezed Lemonade and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists Verdigris, Peach Delight, Party Pink and Dragon Fly.   Topped them off with colorful button brads.

The stand was made by combining the candlesticks and wheel.  I used the Ripe Persimmon, Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade with light mist of the Kraft Glimmer Mist to tone down the color.

Added some chain around the bottom of the birdhouse for some additional texture.

Hope you like my Tattered Floral Birdhouse.  Got my fingers crossed it is a winner!
