Haunted House Shadow Box

I ran across an amazing blog site the other day with some great challenges.  It is Unruly Paper Arts!  and it is a great site with challenges each month.

The Readers Art Quest 1 challenge for October is to use the scariest color BLACK as your dominant color on your project.  I love Halloween; it is my most favorite holiday to decorate and craft for.  So I couldn't resist joining in on the fun.

So here is my entry to Unruly PaperArt RAQ 1 challenge!

I had so much fun doing this project.

I used a Maya Road House Shadow box and put just about everything but the kitchen sink in this little box.

A creepy Halloween hand from Michael's hold a Raven.

In order to get the distressed stain to adhere to the hand I first covered it with Glue n' Seal and then inked it using Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Black Soot.
The bottles are from Spare Parts and I also covered them with Glue n' Seal so that I could ink them to make them looked more distressed.

The Glass Dome is from Tim Holtz.

The skeleton is from some garland that I got at Micheals.

He already had a eerie color to him but I did give him sparkly green eyes using Stickles Lime Green.

He is holding a tiny key to the Haunted House.
More eerie glass vials of poison.  I really like the one that has the Zombie Virus in it.

The candelabra is a dollhouse miniature that I again covered with Glue n' Seal (my new best friend LOL) and inked to distress it.

I also used some vials that I had saved that held insulin from when I use to have a diabetic cat that I gave shots to every day.  These are the pretty size.

I made a window cut out in the roof so that I could add a tea light to give the project a glowing element.  I love these battery operated tea light and use them in a lot of my projects.

The window panes are a piece of craft plastic cut slightly larger than the window opening.  To give it the frosted effect I take a fine nail file and file across the surface of the clear plastic.

The house measures approximately  7.5x2.5x10.5 inches.

Hope you enjoyed my take on this challenge.  Click here to visit Unruly PaperArts and join in on the fun!!!

Happy Paper Cutting!
